Derby County Personalised Football Calendar
Terrific Gift Idea For Fans Of The Rams!
Derby County FC was one of twelve football teams to combine and form the first league in 1888. Since then, the club has gone on to win First Division titles and the FA Cup, whilst also reaching a European Cup semi-final. Former Derby County players Brian Clough and Dave Mackay led the Rams through an extraordinary period of success in the 1970s and although the following two decades were blighted by relegation and financial problems, Derby County FC was celebrating again in 2007, as the club gained promotion to the Premiership.
Our Personalised Derby County Calendars are a special gift idea for any fan of the Rams. Including twelve match reports from our newspaper archives, written by respected journalists who were there at the time, these A3 Calendars reminisce upon some of the club's greatest ever victories and most influential moments.
Calendar Highlights
Our Personalised Derby County FC Calendars contain a range of league and cup victories, in addition to other significant club moments, such as the resignation of Brian Clough as Derby County manager.
League success featured in the A3 Calendar begins back in 1957, when the Rams beat Southport 2-0 to win the Division Three North Championship. Derby County had seen 111 goals hit the back of the net during the course of the season and success would soon continue in the higher divisions. In 1969, Dave Mackay inspired the club to a 5-0 win against Bristol City that guaranteed Derby County the Division Two title. In 1972, a 1-0 victory against Liverpool led the Rams to pole position in the top flight that they eventually would cling on to, as title-challengers Leeds and Liverpool both failed to win their last match.
After an aging team and financial problems sent the Rams back down to the Second Division in the 1980s, two further league triumphs are recoded in your Calendar Gift: the 1-0 victory against Liverpool from 1998 and the 2007 play-off final win against West Brom, which guaranteed the club promotion to the Premiership.
In addition to these league highlights, the Football Calendar also looks back to a selection of Derby County's domestic and European cup wins. These include the 2-0 Charity Shield victory against West Ham in 1975 and wins against Benfica and Atletico Madrid in 1972 and 1974 respectively. Perhaps the most famous cup triumph that Derby County FC has enjoyed over the years however, was the 4-1 thrashing of Real Madrid at the old Baseball Stadium. Charlie George sent the Spaniards reeling with a hat-trick that included two penalty conversions, and although Real Madrid would eventually win the tie after an incredible performance during the return leg, this home victory will rightfully remain special to fans of the Rams.
