Millwall Personalised Football Calendar
A Fabulous Gift Idea for Fans of Millwall FC!
Millwall FC, founded in 1885, was formed by workers of JT Morton's Factory on the Isle of Dogs in East London. There was a large Scottish presence amongst employees at the time and this led the club to compete in blue and white kits. After playing in a variety of grounds, the Lions moved south of the river to New Cross in 1910 and settled in The Den. Millwall later became founding members of the Southern League. In 1937, the club reached a third FA Cup semi-final. The Lions were playing in the Third Division at the time and thus became the first team from this league to reach the semi-final by beating three top flight clubs. Later success for Millwall FC included winning the (old format) Second Division title in 1988 and reaching the FA Cup final in 2004.
Our Personalised Millwall Calendars feature a fascinating selection of reproduced match reports on some of the club's best games from the past one hundred years. Starting from the month of your choice, these A3 Calendars are a great gift idea for any fan of the Lions and they will bring back some wonderful memories from past Millwall performances.
Calendar Highlights
The Personalised Millwall Calendars feature a report on the 0-1 win against Sunderland FC in the 2004 FA Cup semi-final. By winning this game, the Lions became the first club from outside the top flight to reach the final since the formation of the Premiership in 1992. Most importantly, the win meant that Millwall had reached a major final for the first time in over one hundred seasons. The A3 Calendar also features a range of other impressive FA Cup wins that the club has enjoyed over the years. These include the 2-1 win against Newcastle United in 1957, the 3-2 defeat of Chelsea in 1985, and the 3-1 victory against Manchester City in 1990.
Millwall FC developed a reputation as a hard-fighting cup side and success extended to the League Cup. In 1976 the club beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 in the fourth round of the competition, and in 1995, the Lions defeated Everton 2-4 at Goodison. This match was the second leg of the second round. The first game had ended in a 0-0 draw and the away performance shocked the Toffees and delighted the Millwall fans.
Our Calendar Gift also features a fabulous range of league fixtures, including two games that guaranteed titles. The Lions were promoted to the top flight for the first time in their history in 1988. Sheringham and Cascarino had formed a lethal partnership up front for the club and a 0-1 win against Hull City clinched both the Second Division title and automatic promotion. Millwall FC was also promoted in 2001, this time to the Championship. When the club thrashed Oldham Town 5-0, promotion had already been secured. However, the Lions' stunning win sealed the Second Division title, which Millwall won with a total of ninety-five points.
