Rangers Personalised Football Calendar
A Unique Gift Idea For Ranger Fans!
Rangers FC formed in 1872 and the side was named after an English rugby team that the founders had been casually reading about in a book. The club was one of ten original members of the Scottish Football League and the Gers won the very first Scottish title in 1891. However, Rangers had to share this honour with Dumbarton, as the two clubs won the same number of points and then drew a play-off title decider. By the time the new Scottish Premier League formed in 1998, Rangers FC was one of just three original league clubs to make it into the top ten sides; the other two teams were Celtic and Hearts FC. In total, the Gers have won over fifty league titles and over fifty domestic cups. With such a staggering list of honours, it is no surprise that Rangers FC is considered to be the most successful football club in Scotland.
Our Personalised Rangers Calendars feature a selection of match reports from some of the best games from the past hundred years; including title-clinching encounters and domestic cup finals. Starting from the month of your choice, these A3 Calendars suit every occasion and they are a great gift idea for any fan of the Gers.
Calendar Highlights
The Personalised Rangers Calendars begin back in 1930, when the Gers beat Partick Thistle 2-1 in the Scottish Cup final replay. By the 1960s the club had become dominant in this competition, winning the Cup five times in that decade alone. In 1964, the Gers' 3-1 victory against Dundee United also secured a 'treble' for the club, as Rangers had already won the League Cup and the Scottish Championship. In 1966, Rangers enjoyed another special win, as the team lifted the trophy by defeating the club's fierce rival Celtic FC in a replay filled with tension.
1972 was the Gers' centenary year and Rangers beat Dynamo Moscow 3-2 at the Nou Camp to win the European Cup Winners' Cup. A pitch invasion by Rangers' fans meant that the trophy ceremony took place in a small room inside the stadium. Our A3 Calendar features a fabulous article on the parading of the cup at Ibrox, which was the first time many fans got to see the team lift the silverware. During the seventies, the Gers also won two 'trebles' in the space of three years. In 1976, Rangers clinched their third trophy by beating Hearts FC 3-1 in the Scottish Cup final. In 1978, the club beat Aberdeen in both cups before defeating Motherwall 2-0 to clinch the Scottish Championship.
In addition to two further domestic cup wins - the 1984 League Cup and the 2005 Scottish Cup - our fascinating Calendar Gift also focuses on three other league titles. In 1987, Rangers drew 1-1 with Aberdeen to finally end a drought that had seen the 'New Firm' briefly dominate. Order was restored for the club and they soon went on an incredible run to make up for lost time. In 1997, Rangers beat Dundee United 1-0 to win their ninth consecutive league title. The Gers also became Scottish Premier League Champions in 2005, following a 1-0 victory against Hibernian.
